CREATING A SAFE SPACE TO CONNECT,

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Friendship Bench is exploring the use of digital platforms in the treatment of anxiety and depression using an evidence-based, problem-solving therapy intervention.

Talking to the FB Research Coordinator via telephone

Providing registration details and completion of a questionnaire

Downloading the Inuka App or alternatively receiving talk therapy over the phone

Registering on the App, making an appointment with a trained Friendship Bench peer counsellor

Being available for one-on-one online chat sessions; a session may last 30-60 minutes

At the end of each session, you will get an action card, with practical steps towards making positive changes

Plan a follow-up session to review what worked and take the next steps forward- this could include scheduling another appointment or continuing to take your action steps to wellness!

Have a 3-month follow-up with the Friendship Bench Research Coordinator
WHAT IT INVOLVES
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
You are likely to be eligible if you meet
each of the following criteria:
i. You are living in ZImbabwean & hold a national ID
ii. Have access to an internet connection & smartphone
iii. Speak either English or Shona
iv. Are 18 years of age or above
v. Can commit to a 3 month follow up session
vi. You are not an employee of the Friendship Bench

We're doing this trial so that we can collect data to further our reach for quality mental health care that is accessible and affordable for all, and is compatible with physical distancing measures.
